A&M - News in brief

AIDS & Mobility Europe has come to a new start in July 2008. We aim to provide our network with continued support and to develop new apporaches to HIV/AIDS education. While this website is being updated, please, refer to the co-ordinators at EMZ directly (Tel.: +49-511-1693184). You can also reach us by email: info@aidsmobility.org.

AIDS & Mobility Europe
(A&M) is a network for the support of European organisations that provide HIV/AIDS prevention and care to mobile and migrant populations. A&M pays special attention to young migrant people. The project is co-funded by the Executive Agency for Health and Consumers (EAHC) at the European Commission. It involves six main European partner NGOs working alongside EMZ as coordinators.

AIDS & Mobility Europe - a new start

For 15 years, A&M was coordinated by the Netherlands Institute for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (NIGZ). At the beginning of 2007, NIGZ retired as project coordinators, and a decision was taken to restructure the A&M project.

Although A&M’s work over the next three years to 2011 will build on the project’s history, the focus of this new phase will be quite different.

Working with partners old and new, the A&M project will develop a new model of health education for different migrant communities in various European countries. The final aim is to improve migrants’ health literacy and knowledge of HIV, by involving migrants themselves in undertaking research and delivering health training.
